Since 1999, members of the Around the Sound band have been meeting to practice and play concerts in the area. They’ve played the North City Tree Lighting ceremony, holiday concerts at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, and at retirement homes, civic celebrations, and parades, and you'll be able to see them performing at the Shoreline City Hall opening coming up on October 10th.
And if you want to play in the band, you'll find it's open to all adults, no audition needed. The band is headed by Michael Alstead, Executive Director of Music Center of the Northwest, who has been playing the trumpet for over 40 years.
If you're interested in learning more, check out the band's website at AroundTheSound.org.
My daughter played with this band when she was in middle school. Participating in the concerts are a great way to get community service credit for the teenagers in Shoreline. And it can't hurt to get in the extra practice time. ;-)
